English-speaking hospital services in Beijing: the official list

Where in Beijing?Checked 4 Nov 2026

Beijing's health commission publishes a medical guide for foreigners that names 17 international medical services, explains how to book in English and lists the ways to pay. Below is its list in the guide's own order and wording. We don't rank hospitals, and Ward & Way is not affiliated with any hospital named on this page.

Beijing's medical guide for foreigners

The Beijing Municipal Health Commission compiled the Medical Guide for Foreigners in Beijing, in English, French, Spanish and Japanese. It covers hospitals, appointments, how a visit works, insurance, payment and specialty departments (Beijing government, Oct 2025; Beijing Municipal Health Commission, Nov 2025).

The 17 international medical services in the guide

The guide calls these the major medical institutions providing full-process foreign language services in Beijing. The health commission says the 17 offer emergency services and appointments (Beijing Municipal Health Commission, Nov 2025). As published:

  • International Medical Services (IMS), Peking Union Medical College Hospital (our page)

More hospitals with foreign-language service

An appendix to the guide lists other institutions that offer full-process foreign-language service. As of January 2025, 156 medical institutions in Beijing offered it (Beijing government medical guide; Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau, Jul 2025). The appendix is linked under Sources.

Booking in English

The guide points to the "International Service Beijing" (京通, Jingtong) mini program inside WeChat or Alipay. Open it, tap "En" to switch to English, and book an outpatient appointment (Beijing government medical guide). The health commission names the same mini program for booking in English (Beijing Municipal Health Commission, Nov 2025). Hospitals also take bookings through their own apps and phone lines; PUMCH's are on our PUMCH page.

What the list leaves out

The guide does not say which doctors speak English or what a visit costs. Hospitals in large cities often run international departments with services in English and other languages, and some offer free translation (China Daily). The UK government's guide adds that English-speaking doctors and nurses may be available in large hospitals but not everywhere, and that some hospitals charge for an English-speaking staff member.

  • Ask whether English is available at every step: booking, the consultation, tests, payment and the written report
  • Ask whether an interpreter costs extra
  • Ask whether reports and invoices can be issued in English
  • Ask which insurers the department bills directly
  • Ask how to book from abroad, and what the department needs from you first

Paying and emergencies

In an emergency in Beijing, dial 120 (Beijing government medical guide; UK government). For deposits, cards and direct billing, read paying a hospital bill. For published prices, including Beijing United Family's list, read what a doctor visit, scan or check-up costs.
